Minnesota head coach Brad Childress said Favre needs "two or three weeks" of training camp to prepare for the regular season. "Close to the same period as last year," he told the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Recommendation:
While Favre says he's not sure if he'll return and Childress says there's no deadline for a decision, the reality of the NFL schedule says he has to decide by mid August. Favre announced he would play for the Vikings on Aug. 18 last year, so look for a similar timeline for a decision this year. It's still widely thought Favre will return but skip the first two weeks of training camp when the Vikings are in Mankato, Minnesota.
