Danica Patrick: Beginning Shift to NASCAR -  9/6/2009 10:06:36 PM

Update:
Patrick plans to drive in NASCAR next season in the Nationwide and Truck Series in addition to competing in IRL, ESPN reports. "She doesn't have some misguided idea that it's going to be easy," said Tony Stewart, whose Stewart-Haas Racing team may be involved in a potential deal. "She wants to do it the right way. She has the intention of doing everything right."

Recommendation:
A few weeks ago talk emerged that Patrick was certain to re-sign with Andretti Green Racing and stay in the IRL. Now this story says she definitely wants to move to NASCAR and plans to transition along a similar path of Tony Stewart. It looks like she'll stay in the IRL for at least one more season, but the open wheel circuit may soon be losing one of its most marketable stars. However, we still need to hear from Patrick herself to see how this plan for 2010 and beyond will work.
