Marleau (knee) has spoken with Sharks GM Doug Wilson about whether he should continue captaining the team, the San Jose Mercury News reports.

Recommendation:
Marleau has been highly scrutinized by the Sharks' faithful because of his failure to properly lead his capable team to a championship, but Wilson has yet to reveal any plans for a dramatic overhaul of the team, which is what many fans in San Jose are calling for. If Patty was to shed the label of captain, perhaps this would take some pressure off him, yet there is no guarantee that he'll even remain a Shark at this point.
