Rondo and the Celtics agreed upon a five-year extension for $55 million on Monday, Yahoo! Sports reports.

Recommendation:
They let this come right down to the wire. The NBA league office extended the deadline from its original date of Saturday to Monday. There are still lots of other prominent players who haven't signed extensions with their teams (Rudy Gay, Tyrus Thomas, Ronnie Brewer), but Rondo is now locked up as the Celtics' starting point guard for the foreseeable future.
