Lo has been released by the Astros.
ANALYSIS
Through 16 appearances at Oklahoma City, Lo had surrendered 10 runs on 27 hits over 19 innings. He may latch on elsewhere with a minor league deal, but Lo is a long shot to see high-leverage innings at the big-league level.

Past Fantasy Outlooks

2010
After a strong spring and success in the minor leagues, Lo earned his first promotion to the majors last July. The 27-year-old right-hander ripped off seven straight scoreless outings to begin his career before he was given the opportunity to close for the Astros. Lo registered two saves before three shaky outings forced the team to give Josh Fields a look in the role. Aside from those outings, Lo did a pretty good job, but he'll need to cut down on walks (13 in 19.1 innings) if he wants to pitch in more high-leverage situations for Houston this season.
After a lost 2011 campaign in which he made just two appearances due to injuries, Lo has shown some of the promise he exhibited back in 2010. During 30 relief innings in the minors last season, Lo allowed just three earned runs while striking out 31. Prior to being signed by Houston, Lo had played in multiple international tournaments, including the 2008 Olympics with Chinese Taipei. Given the unsettled nature of the Houston bullpen, Lo could pitch his way into a prominent role at some point if he's healthy and effective this spring.
Lo's first taste of professional ball went very well, capped off with a selection to represent Taiwan on the World Team at the Futures Game. Lo's strikeout totals have been good (53 in 40.2 innings), but he is still walking far too many hitters. The Astros are concerned about the development of his secondary pitches, particularly his curveball. At 23, he has some time to develop, but right now he projects as a middle-of-the-bullpen guy and not a future closer.
