Mike McClendon: Minor League Deal With Rockies
McClendon has signed a minor league contract with the Rockies.
ANALYSIS
The right-hander will remain in the Colorado organization for at least one more year after posting a 4.02 ERA and a 7.4 K/9 with the club's Triple-A Colorado Springs affiliate in 2013. McClendon's walk rate has been trending upward the last few years, to a career-high 4.4 BB/9 last season, and he will be hard-pressed to crack the big-league roster in 2014.

McClendon made his major league debut in 2010, posting a 3.00 ERA in 21 innings of relief. He'll try to win a bullpen spot again in 2011, but will most likely start the season at Triple-A Nashville. If he is a part of the Brewers' relief corps, McClendon is a better fit in the middle innings than in a setup role.
