Yoshii announced his retirement on Monday, JapanBall.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Yoshii had a career record of 89-82 with 62 saves in 18 seasons in Japan; he pitched in just four games for the Lotte Marines this season, giving up 18 runs in 12.1 innings. Yoshii pitched in the majors for five seasons from 1998-2002, going 32-47 with the Mets, Rockies and Expos (going 0-1 in three postseason starts with the Mets in 1999). Yoshii will join the coaching staff of the Nippon Ham Fighters next season.
