Miller, 35, was found dead Wednesday in Palm Harbor, Fla., the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
An official cause of death remains unknown, but it's a sad day for the Blue Jays, Marlins, Giants and Dodgers organizations, the three clubs Miller suited up for during his seven-year big league career. He last surfaced in the majors in 2010 and finished his career 24-14 with a 4.81 ERA, working mostly in a relief role throughout.

Signed a minor league contract with San Francisco in November 2008.
Baseball's most tattooed player (in the body art, not the hard hit, sense) developed enough control to use his fastball and slider effectively, and the result was an excellent middle-relief campaign for the Marlins. Florida has a number of younger power arms projected to set up Kevin Gregg in 2008, so don't expect Miller to get many save opportunities, but his strikeouts will still give him some value.
Miller cleared waivers twice in 2005, quite the feat considering he made one appearance in the majors. He still shows enough potential in the minors that it's tough to write him off. A change of scenery would do him good.
Miller was making a nice recovery from 2003 shoulder surgery before a hamstring injury sidelined him for two months. He came back but was ineffective, posting a 7.90 ERA and terrible 15/28 K/BB ratio in 41 IP. He enters the 2005 season without a guaranteed a roster spot, much less a berth in the rotation. There's some upside here with his strikeout numbers if he's healthy.
Miller was all set to start the year as Toronto's fifth starter before shoulder soreness turned into season-ending shoulder surgery, after one start at Single-A in early April. He's expected to be throwing by the time spring training starts.
A pretty up and down season, marked by a horrible K/BB ratio (68 K and 66 walks), though he actually won more games than Cory Lidle, if you can believe that. He shows some signs down the stretch, winning five of his last seven starts and going at least six innings in four of them. He'll get a rotation spot if he earns it in spring training. He's got the stuff to succeed in the big leagues.
