Stokes had an up-and-down year, dominating in April, struggling mightily from May-to-June, pitching solid in July and August before collapsing in September. Poor control was a factor again, though oddly his two worst months for walks came in months where he posted solid ERA. That likely won't continue and Stokes will need to display better control to keep his spot in the Angels' bullpen in 2010.

Stokes, was a starter for Triple-A New Orleans after being acquired from Tampa Bay, but he was used almost exclusively as a reliever for the Mets after being promoted in August. Stokes displayed better control than he had in the past, but he, like most of the team's relievers, struggled in September possibly due to overuse. He will enter spring training with a chance of earning a spot in the Mets' bullpen.

Stokes had decent numbers at Triple-A last year, but that 1.70 WHIP in his cup of coffee with the Rays doesn't bode well. He'll be one of many candidates for a back-of-the-rotation berth in the spring, and he's perhaps the least exciting of the bunch.

Stokes made a nice comeback last year after missing 2004 due to Tommy John surgery. He'll likely start 2006 at Triple-A and could see big league action later in the year. Other pitchers in the Devil Rays' system have more upside, but Stokes is farther along than many of them, so he could be the first of the lot to have a chance to make an impact.

Stokes is healthy again after undergoing Tommy John surgery in the summer of 2003. He'll likely start 2005 back at Double-A and won't be rushed, so he's at least a year away.

Stokes had a decent two months at Double-A before he got hurt in 2003, and the Rays will likely send him back there to start 2004. They still like this kid's potential, but he's still probably two years away.

Stokes went 10-7, 3.26 in 28 starts at High-A Bakersfield in 2002. In 166 innings, Stokes struck out 152, walked only 57, and gave up only 13 homers – this in the hitter-friendly California League. The Devil Rays will make sure he gets a regular turn in their Double-A rotation in 2003. Still about two years away from the bigs, we'd say.
