| Deep replay sim league. I asked this question I think already but I'm pretty sure I forgot to hit SUBMIT at the bottom .. sorry if you get this twice.
Looking for advice on a trade offer..
I've been offered to trade away 2b Dan Uggla and 1b James Loney for p Daniel Bard, of Josh Reddick, ss Harold Garcia, ss Jonathan Galvez.
I'm not sure about the status of Reddick (coming off oblique injury) and if Galvez and GArcia could ever pan out...? |
| Galvez is the key to this deal. He's still 18 but putting up great numbers, albeit in the Arizona Rookie Leageu. The question for him is will he stick at the position - but I haven't read anything indicating otherwise. Reddick is healthy now and playing, and as a 22-year old in Double-A, he's got some upside here. You're taking on much of the risk in the deal, in that you're counting on Reddick/Galvez to pan out. But presuming that you're taking the long view to begin with, I think this is a pretty nice deal. Uggla and Loney are both productive but also have their flaws. Uggla's defense is uneven at best, presuming your sim uses defense, and he's no guarantee to stick at second base going forward. Loney - I still like him and think that the power might come, but it hasn't yet. Given how scarce good SS prospects are, though, I like going after Galvez. Garcia doesn't do as much for me, looking at age-to-level, but if you've got the roster space, you never know - maybe he'll keep clicking as he hits a higher level. At least you could have some ballast to include in future trades.

| I am in a keeper league.
what do u think about trading vladimire guerrero and ricky nolasco for johnny cueto? |
| No way, no how. Cueto is a fine player and all, but Nolasco is probably better than him all by himself. Adding Vlad as well makes it a horrible deal for you (the guy getting Cueto). This is so bad that I'd vote to veto it. If that surprises you, check out Nolasco's game log last year - he was terrific down the stretch.
Good luck

| Is Hanley still the consensus #1 with the news being released of a lingering shoulder injury?? i have the #1 pick in my draft, and had anticipated taking HanRam all the way! should i rethink that???
Thanks in advance! |
| I'd still take Hanley. Minor injuries happen in the spring. Unless the news changes, and it appears to be more serious, he's the guy, I think.
Good luck

| 5X5 Roto Keeper. Have to pick my last keeper. Furcal $14, C Young, AZ, $11, F Hernandez, $23, or C Hart, $20. Already have Webb, Haren, Lilly, S Baker, and Volstad. Was leaning to C Young because of price but Hart gives ya much more Average. Last thought was adding Felix
and then going for all offense during the auction and having a monster staff but probably the lowest bankroll for the remaining
13 players I would have left to obtain via auction.
Thoughts
Thanks, George |
| George,
I'd go with Young - that's a really competitive price for a guy that's still very capable of going 20-20 with a 30-30 upside. Given your starters already, King Felix is just a luxury item for you. See if someone else in your league is hurting for a starter, and see if you can net more auction dollars or another asset during your auction.

| 10 team, NL only 4x4. My current freezes are: Felipe Lopez ($11), Kaz Matsui ($6), Yunel Escobar ($6), Mark Reynolds ($6), Cody Ross ($2), Jayson Werth ($6), Chris Young (AZ $11), Josh Johnson ($11), Ted Lilly ($11), Jon Rauch ($1), Chris Perez ($6), Bronson Arroyo (14). I have been offered Mike Bourn ($16) and Chris Duncan ($6) for Colby Rasmus. What is your take on this trade. Knowing my league Bourne, because of his SB's, will go for $15-$20 in the draft and I do like Chris Duncan as a throw in too. Let me know, thanks!! |
| No, I'd turn it down. I know Bourn's stolen bases are tempting, but he could be benched and even demoted by June if he hits like he did last year. Rasmus as a minor leaguer (I'm assuming you get him at a discount) has a huge upside. If you're going to trade an elite prospect, you need to get far more reliable production in return.

| Two questions: who is the likely 1b of the future for Oakland, Chris Carter or Sean Doolittle? And, who is the more likely starter for Philly at 3b, Feliz or Dobbs?
Thanks,
Jerry Ferguson |
| Jerry,
I'd definitely say Carter, though Doolittle will possibly arrive first. But I think he's ultimately likely to live up to his last name, and do little. Carter has a higher power upside, albeit with more risks attached.
Feliz will probably play more than Dobbs because of his defense, but it'll be a platoon of sorts. Keep in mind that Feliz is coming off of surgery - his playing time in April might be more limited than usual.

| KeeperLEAGUE: 10 team Roto 5x5 H2H league 13 hitters 9 pitchers. C 1B 2B 3B SS MI CI 4OF 2U. Team Keeps 8, team loses draft pick in rd of keepers ADP09. I receive (extra 1&8 rd picks or keep 2 more guys) & 1 extra guy since I am a new owner. I have 1st pick,I can draft Furcal. Who would you keep,up to 11. B Abreu, R Cano, Chris Davis, M Kemp, J Mauer, M Ordonez, Jhonny Peralta, C Quentin, N Swisher, Joey Votto, A.J. Burnett, Felix Hernandez, R Nolasco, Jon Papelbon, B.J. Ryan, Ben Sheets, Javier Vazquez. Also what strategies do you suggest |
| You're in decent shape here - while you don't have one of the slam-dunk elite players, you have good depth. None of these guys are first-rounders, but you should have no problem finding players to keep. Here's who I'd go with:
2B Robinson Cano
1B/3B Chris Davis
OF Matt Kemp
C Joe Mauer
OF Magglio Ordonez
OF Carlos Quentin
1B Joey Votto
SP Felix Hernandez
SP A.J. Burnett
SP Javier Vazquez
RP Jon Papelbon
The toughest decision was between Nolasco and Vazquez, but I think that Vazquez is a nice sleeper in ATL and has had many more quality strikeout years, and doesn't have Nolasco's recent injury history. Looking at your squad, I'd focus on buidling the offense first. Take Furcal first - he's a really nice value at that spot, and the quality of shortstops overall is pretty low. Otherwise, wait to pick up a second and maybe third closer - in a 10-team league, there should be plenty of value late in the draft to get another closer.
