Dirk Hayhurst

Needing some insurance as the Blue Jays' staff will be thin to start the season, Toronto claimed Hayhurst off of waivers from San Diego last October. He made his debut with the Padres last August and was knocked around, surrendering a whopping 27 hits in only 16.2 innings pitched. While this is fluky, Hayhurst did not help himself by walking 10 batters as well. Still, a healthy arm is a healthy arm and he did display a very good 92:28 K:BB in 84 Triple-A innings, so with a good spring, he could head north with the big club, where he might have a little value if used as a reliever.
