The Twins selected Sobolewski from the Blue Jays in the Triple-A phase of the Rule 5 Draft.
ANALYSIS
He hit .249 with 20 home runs and a .718 OPS between Triple-A and Double-A last season and was named best defensive third baseman in the Eastern League by Baseball America. He's had a hard time making contact in his career (17:86 K:BB ratio at Double-A last year), which is his biggest impediment to making the majors. But he could be an option for the Twins at third base if Trevor Plouffe struggles with his defense. Still, it's not hard to see Sobolewski just adding depth at Triple-A all season, since he'll be 26 next year.
