ANALYSIS
Belfiore was released by the Tigers last week after struggling to a 5-11 record and 5.60 ERA in 22 starts at Triple-A on the season. The 26-year-old is just a year removed from posting a 3.26 ERA, however, so the Orioles will take a low-risk flyer on Belfiore in hopes of him rediscovering what made him an effective hurler at the Triple-A level in 2014.

2014 Fantasy Outlook
A former first-round supplemental pick by the Diamondbacks, Belfiore has been a solid middle relief prospect for the Orioles during the last two seasons. However, his WHIP rose from 1.24 at High-A and Double-A in 2012 to 1.44 at Triple-A in 2013. On a positive note, Belfiore struck out 82 batters in 76.1 innings last year, and the Orioles called him up for an appearance in September. He'll enter 2014 as a left-handed reliever buried on the organizational depth chart behind Brian Matusz and Troy Patton, unless Matusz is traded or shifted back into the rotation. As a result, Belfiore is likely headed back to Triple-A Norfolk to begin the season.
