Nelson posted fantastic numbers in middle relief for the Marlins in 2008, and he had no shortage of bidders before inking a one-year deal with Tampa Bay. Given Troy Percival's inability to stay healthy, Nelson should have a place on your "set-up men with saves potential" list.Nelson posted fantastic numbers in middle relief for the Marlins in 2008, and he should have no shortage of bidders for his services as a free agent. Watch where he lands closely; if he winds up in a situation with any kind of uncertainty at closer, move him up near the front of the line on your "set-up men with saves potential" list. Nelson struggled to stick with the Royals through July but by mid-August, he was the team's closer. In that role, he saved eight games and completed 10 scoreless appearances in 18 tries. With Octavio Dotel and other new faces joining the fray, the 32-year-old will not be the team's closer in 2007, but pitchers with his control and ability to make the opposition miss (44 strikeouts in 44 innings) usually stay in the majors.
Nelson struggled last year with a shoulder injury. He'll need to prove he's healthy in the minors before fantasy owners can consider him again.
