The Pirates reassigned Easley to minor-league camp Thursday, Rob Biertempfel of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
ANALYSIS
There was some thought that the Bucs would take three catchers north, but the team instead stuck with starter Francisco Cervelli and backup Chris Stewart. Easley will likely start for Triple-A Indianapolis with Elias Diaz sidelined by a sore elbow.

2016 Fantasy Outlook
Easley managed to crack the MLB roster for the first time in his career in 2015 but only had seven plate appearances in four games for the Cardinals while spending nearly two months on the active roster. The Cardinals' decision to outright Easley to Triple-A Memphis at the end of the year likely afforded him an opportunity to become a free agent. Easley is a .264/.341/.367 hitter across nine minor league seasons and he'll continue to provide a serviceable bat, solid defense, and an average arm as organizational depth, regardless of where he ends up in 2016.
