Jackson was traded from the Reds organization to the Pirates in a minor league trade Friday, MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The Pirates claimed Jackson off waivers from the Yankees two years ago, so this will actually be his second time playing in the Pirates' organization. Through 10 appearances with Triple-A Louisville this season, Jackson posted a 5.59 ERA and 1.24 WHIP. The Reds will receive a player to be named later in the deal.

Jackson put together a decent line with Pittsburgh, compiling a 3.14 ERA while allowing 38 hits in 43 innings, but an inability to throw strikes haunted the 27-year-old right-hander. Jackson made several trips from Triple-A to Pittsburgh after being acquired on waivers from the Yankees in May. A K:BB ratio of 21:22 figures to improve, but Jackson really doesn't have a swing-and-miss pitch that puts him in a position to hold down a late-inning role. As a result, there's no reason for fantasy owners to take action on Jackson.
The last player remaining in the Yankees' organization from the trade that sent Randy Johnson back to the D-Backs, Jackson appears to have at least a short-term future as a middle reliever in New York. He'll turn 27 before Opening Day, but after maintaining a strikeout rate over 10.00 K/9IP between Double- and Triple-A last season, Jackson was added to the Yankees' 40-man roster in November and he should be in the mix for a bullpen spot at some point this season -- even if he doesn't lock a job down immediately out of spring training.
Four-pitch guy who works down in the zone and doesn't have as much upside as that stat line would have you believe. He needs to have very good command because he doesn't blow people away. Back-end rotation option in the long term.
