March 2, 2024
The Mariners reassigned Ravelo to minor-league camp Saturday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
ANALYSIS
After signing an NRI deal with Seattle in the offseason, Ravelo appeared in just two games and logged one hit in four trips to the plate. Ravelo slashed .310/.428/.473 with 35 RBI with the Dodgers' Triple-A affiliate last year, and he may see time in the big leagues this season if his bat stays hot in the minors.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could fill multiple roles
1BSt. Louis Cardinals  AAA
January 23, 2020
Ravelo, who can play first base and the outfield, could also be looked at to fill the pinch-hit role previously filled by Jose Martinez, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The 27-year-old's persistence with respect to his career finally paid off in 2019, as Ravelo made his major-league debut after nine-plus seasons in the minors. Ravelo slashed just .205/.256/.410 across 43 plate appearances, but he now finally has some regular-season big-league experience under his belt and has a chance to secure an Opening Day roster spot with Martinez's departure. Ravelo will naturally need to make his case in spring training, but there certainly appears to be a void to fill after Martinez's departure.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2020
2015
A sixth-round draft pick by the White Sox in 2010, Ravelo received his first callup to the big leagues last season. He played 29 games -- primarily as a pinch-hitter -- and slashed .205/.256/.410 in 43 plate appearances. Albeit limited to a small sample size, Ravelo's output was interesting in that it belied his typical production in the minors. Usually a solid hitter with limited power, his paltry batting average in the big leagues was accompanied by a .205 ISO that surpassed any mark he had posted in 10 minor-league seasons. Ravelo also struck out at a 27.9% clip with the Cardinals after never breaking the 20% mark in the minors. Chances are that Ravelo's big-league numbers will fall more in line with his minor-league norms moving forward, though there's no guarantee that he'll return to St. Louis next season. Wherever he ends up, Ravelo is best viewed as a bench bat rather than a potential starter.
Ravelo was acquired by the A's as part of the Jeff Samardzija trade with the White Sox in December. As a 22-year-old, he posted a career-best .309/.386/.473 line at Double-A Birmingham including 11 homers, 10 steals and 66 RBI. In addition to a useful mix of tools, Ravelo has shown a patient eye at the plate as a minor league player, but it remains to be seen if he'll hit enough to become a regular as a first baseman, as he's only played two games at third base over the past two seasons. A right-handed hitter, Ravelo may also be destined for a bench role on the small side of a platoon if he remains in Oakland.
