Davidson was diagnosed with a mid-foot sprain over the weekend after initial X-rays revealed no structural damage, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Before officially verifying that Davidson didn't fracture his foot in Saturday's Arizona Fall League championship game, the Braves will send the outfielder in for follow-up X-rays Monday. If the latest scans confirm the original diagnosis, Davidson should be back to full strength well before spring training gets underway.

Past Fantasy Outlooks

2015
There are safer hitters in the Braves’ system, but none of them can match Davidson’s power potential. Rome is one of the toughest places to hit home runs in the South Atlantic League, and Davidson managed 10 home runs in 494 plate appearances in his age 18-19 season. His hit tool will be what makes or breaks his ability to stick as a big league regular, but if he can hit .250, he has the approach and power to offer Jay Bruce level production in his prime. After posting an impressive 15.7% walk rate in the Gulf Coast League, he followed that up with an even more impressive 17.0% walk rate at Low-A. This allowed him to post a .381 OBP despite hitting just .242. The fringey hit tool makes this a pretty risky profile, but in leagues where more than 150 prospects are owned, his power potential makes him a worthwhile flier. Davidson will head to High-A to begin 2016 as a 19-year-old.
Selected 32nd overall in the 2014 first-year player draft, the 18-year-old Davidson uses his 6-foot-2, 210-pound frame to generate plus bat speed from the left side of the plate. That speed did not did not translate to power in his first professional season -- Davidson did not hit a homer and managed just 10 extra-base hits in 187 plate appearances in rookie ball. But he did demonstrate an advanced approach, walking 31 times against 42 strikeouts, and it should only be a matter of time before the power shows up in games. He played exclusively in left field, and while Davidson doesn't move all that well, he has a plus arm and the Braves figure to keep him in the corner to fill what could be a glaring hole in a couple seasons. First, Davidson will need to prove himself in the minors, likely starting at Low-A Rome to begin the year.
