Retires from professional baseball
Imhof announced Wednesday that he would retire from professional baseball, ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick reports.
ANALYSIS
The 47th overall pick in the 2014 MLB Draft, Imhof pitched for four of the Phillies' minor-league affiliates in two and a half seasons before losing his right eye during a freak accident last June, Imhof was able to replace the eye with a prosthetic one, but determined it was best to call it a career. The 23-year-old posted a 3.91 ERA over 53 innings for High-A Clearwater in 2016.

The Phillies selected Imhof out of college in the second round of the 2014 draft. Imhof has a naturally-cutting fastball that jumps out of his hand, and while his secondary pitches need work, both his changeup and slider have potential. He threw a combined 42.1 innings across three levels for the Phils after being drafted, finishing up with seven starts at Low-A Lakewood. He'll either start off back at Lakewood or at High-A Clearwater this season. Expect the Phillies to move him along quickly if he continues to be successful.
