Dylan Baker

Baker did not throw a single in-game pitch in 2016, as he spent the entire season on the disabled list. This was a nightmare scenario for Baker, who only made one start in 2015 due to Tommy John surgery and has not been fully healthy for a season since 2013. In 2013, he made 25 starts for the Low-A Lake County Captains, where he finished the season 7-6 with a 3.63 ERA and 1.30 WHIP. He finished the season with a 7.35 K/9 strikeout rate, 3.90 BB/9 walk rate, and absurd 0.19 home runs allowed per nine innings. He’ll be 25 at the start of next season, having never advanced past High-A ball. It’s tough to predict how well Baker will fare next season, provided he’s fully recovered from his injuries. The first step for Baker to get back on the road to the big leagues is to get healthy, presumably in the lower levels of the minors.
