2010
Pucetas made the jump from High-A to Triple-A last season, which took a toll on his numbers. He had a 5.04 ERA, 1.403 WHIP and a 96:50 K:BB ratio 159.0 innings, so the 2008 Cal League Pitcher of the Year’s outlook took a hit. He’ll be 25 years old this season, so he obviously can’t be written off, but Pucetas needs more seasoning in the minors before the Giants will consider him.
2009
As a 23-year-old at High-A San Jose last year, Pucetas posted a 102:27 K:BB ratio with a 3.02 ERA. His strikeout rate could improve (7.34 K/9IP), but given his age and the fact those numbers came in a hitter's league, Pucetas has some upside and could find himself in San Francisco at some point in 2009.
