RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks

2013

There was no outlook written for Matt Angle.

2012

Angle was the classic fill-in player on a bad team in 2011, showing scrap while playing an up-the-middle position but little else. Angle posted a .559 OPS in 31 games and his speed was his only real asset, as he racked up 11 stolen bases. He showed intriguing on-base skills in the low minors, with an OBP over .400 in 100 Double-A plate appearances. Still, at 26, things are getting a bit late in his career for low-minors performances to hold much weight, and his Triple-A seasons in 2010 and 2011 were uninspiring.

2011

The speedy Angle stole 29 bases at two minor league levels and was added to the 40-man roster after the season. He should start the 2011 season in Triple-A once again since the Orioles appear stocked on outfielders. If injuries take a toll during the season, he could become a backup outfielder in Baltimore, but keep in mind that he's unlikely to help in the power department as he's hit seven homers over 1,630 career minor league at-bats.
