Tommy Hottovy

The 31-year-old Hottovy spent most of his 2012 season in Triple-A where he amassed a 2-2 record with a 2.42 ERA and a 61:16 K:BB over 50 innings. He was given a shot with the big club, but his minor league success never translated and while he posted a 2.89 ERA over just 9.1 innings in 2012, his FIP sat at 6.52 and he posted a very unimpressive 1.71 WHIP. With much younger and stronger arms in the Royals bullpen and farm system, Hottovy was deemed expendable and he was subsequently dealt to the Rangers in the offseason where he will compete for a spot in the bullpen. In all likelihood, he will open the year in the minors again.
