Dustin Martin

Martin is hitting .538 (7-for-13) with two doubles so far this spring and making a strong impression after a strong Arizona Fall League campaign (.314 with three homers), the team's official web site reports.

Martin is hitting .300/.391/.388 through 22 games in the Arizona Fall League with a home run and he's made a strong impression this fall. "I think he's matured more than any player we have here," Stan Cliburn, who manages Martin's AFL team and Triple-A Rochester, told the Twins' official web site. "He had a good year at Double-A and now he's in this elite league and he's handling it well. I like his mental approach. I've challenged him by playing him every day at times and he's responded. Being here is a big stepping stone for a lot of players and he's fit right in."

Martin is off to a strong start at Double-A New Britain by hitting .359/.405/.531 with five stolen bases through 17 games.

Martin is recovering from a herniated disk in his back this spring, the team's official web site reports.

Martin was traded to Minnesota from the Mets as part of the Luis Castillo deal, the Newark Star-Ledger Mets' blog reports.
