Recker found himself at Triple-A Sacramento for the third straight year in 2011, so the impressive .287/.388/.501 slash line needs to be discounted given his experience and age (he'll be 28 years old when the season starts). He could battle for the backup catcher job in the spring if the A's want Derek Norris to spend time at Triple-A, but there's no long-term value here since Norris would become the primary backstop in Oakland if Kurt Suzuki were to be traded.
