2013
There was no outlook written for Randy Ruiz.
2010
Ruiz hit his way into a reserve role for the Jays after once again mashing the ball at Triple-A (.320/.392/.584) and made the most of it, hitting .313 with 10 homers in 115 at-bats for Toronto. If he can handle first base defensively he could push Lyle Overbay for playing time, but still figures to have the inside track at being the team's primary DH this season.
2009
Ruiz could win a spot as the right-handed half of a platoon at DH after finally getting a shot in the majors last year. Ruiz put up strong power numbers with a good eye at the plate in the minors, but couldn't move past Double-A as most organizations failed to look beyond his limitations as a fielder. Ruiz got a shot at Triple-A Rochester and put up strong power numbers. He held his own in his first stint in the majors, but his ability to field a position could limit his chance to make the final roster. Still, he could produce nice value if he wins a regular role.
