2010
Kilby fits the profile of a lefty specialist pretty well with a plus slider, and his first major league experience was solid (17 innings, 20:4 K:BB and 10 hits allowed) after another good season in relief at Triple-A Sacramento. Unfortunately for Kilby, the A's already have Jerry Blevins and Craig Breslow from the left side, giving them a trio of effective lefties out of the bullpen. None of the three make a lot of money, so trading one of them doesn't free up much money for the budget conscious A's. He was often used for multiple innings, which could distinguish him from the competition when the final rosters cuts are made in March.
