Collier has great tools, but is unrefined as a player, needing to improve his plate discipline and hone his swing to turn his strength into power. The Phillies have had luck with similar players, but he'll need time to figure things out. Don't expect a breakthrough soon.
2009
Collier was drafted in the supplemental first round of the 2008 draft and hit .271 without any home runs in rookie ball last year, but did convert on all five of his stolen base attempts. He's a superior athlete but, at just 18 years of age, still has a few years to go before he'll be considered as a call-up for Philadelphia. Collier must develop his power at the plate in the meantime.
