2013
There was no outlook written for Tim Melville.
2010
Melville is a 20-year-old right-handed starting pitcher with a fastball that sits at 90-93 mph and a good curveball as a secondary pitch; he is also working on a change-up. Melville gets excellent movement on his pitches, but he will need development time to refine his secondary offerings, reduce fatigue as the game progresses, and determine an approach to getting better hitters out. He is expected to join the rotation in late 2011 or early 2012 after gaining more seasoning. Look for him to start 2010 in the rotation with the Royals' High-A affiliate.
2009
Melville looked like a first-round talent in the 2008 draft, but he slid all they way to the Royals’ fourth-round pick. That discrepancy led to a contract dispute between the two sides, and the deal was signed too late in the season for him to get any professional work in. Still, scouts love his big league size, low-90s fastball and developing knuckle-curve. He should start the season in rookie ball or at Low-A.
