Westmoreland's early career in the Red Sox's organization is more notable for injuries than his play in the field. He made his debut for short-season Lowell in June after recovering from shoulder surgery, then broke his collar bone in August. In between, he hit .296/.401/.484 with seven homers and 35 RBI in 223 at-bats for the Spinners. Westmoreland has advanced plate discipline, good power potential and good swing mechanics.
