2012
Wood has shown to be a Quad-A pitcher, saving 24 games at Triple-A in 2011 but never finding a home in the majors. He split his season between the Pittsburgh and Texas organizations a year ago and will attempt to re-establish himself at Triple-A as a viable injury callup relief pitcher. He lacks a breaking pitch to go along with his mid 90s fastball, something that helps him get by in the minors but not the big leagues.
2010
Wood played the part of organizational soldier in 2009, getting multiple callups to the Marlins' bullpen whenever they needed an extra arm only to get shipped back to New Orleans when the regular relievers had gotten their breather. He's not young, and he's never really shown much more than a decent sinker prior to a good showing in the AFL in 2008 and a big first two months at Triple-A last season, so he's a long shot to win a job in spring training.
