2013
There was no outlook written for Fu-Te Ni.
2010
Ni started the 2009 season with Triple-A Toledo, but he was impressive enough after 24 minor league appearances to receive a promotion to the big leagues in late June. The 27-year-old lefty had continued success after his promotion, finishing with a 2.61 ERA and 21 strikeouts in 31 innings for the Tigers. He uses a fastball that can reach 91 mph while mixing in a decent curveball and changup. Even though Ni spent time as a starter in Taiwan, the Tigers seem content to keep him in his current role as a lefty specialist out of the bullpen.
2009
The Tigers signed Ni from the Chinese Professional Baseball League this winter. He was 5-12 with a 3.34 ERA last year for the China Trust Whales with 132 strikeouts in 145.1 innings. Ni, a sidearmer, throws a fastball in the 89-91 mph range along with a sweeping curveball and change-up. He'll compete for a bullpen job this spring.
