2015

2014

Rodriguez was acquired by the A's in the Jed Lowrie trade with Houston, but he missed all of 2013 after getting injured in spring training and requiring Tommy John surgery. Rodriguez struggled in his last major league season (2012 with the Astros), compiling a 2-10 record with a 5.37 ERA in 70.1 relief innings, but he managed a 10.0 K/9. He walks too many guys (career 4.8 BB/9 in the majors), but if he can find some control and come back healthy, he has a chance to break into the A's bullpen at some point in 2014.

2013

Although the results were nothing to write home about (5.37 ERA / 1.45 WHIP), Rodriguez was one of the most used relievers for the Astros in 2012. Rodriguez made a robust 71 appearances for the 100-loss Astros after appearing in just 47 games in 2011. He gets plenty of swings and misses when his rising four-seamer is up in the strike zone. He is a flyball pitcher, a trait that can lead him to occasional trouble. Rodriguez's workload would normally be cause for concern, but with better bullpen options in 2013, the Astros will likely roll back his innings, which should result in numbers more like 2011 than 2012.

2012

Rodriguez posted a 3.18 ERA across two levels, spending most of the year in middle relief. Walks have been a problem throughout his minor league career, and his 30 free passes in 52.1 innings with the Astros won't cut it in Houston or on your fantasy team. With the Astros getting younger by the day, Rodriguez may not get as many appearances in 2012 as he did in 2011.
