Just one year removed from the Padres' Rookie League, Spence, a 23-year-old lefty out of Australia, made 40 appearances out of the bullpen in 2011 and posted a 2.73 ERA with a 1.61 K/BB. As he continues to gain experience and works on his control, he should reduce the walks and possibly become the team's top lefty specialist in 2012.
