2011
Cofield's addition to Atlanta's 40-man roster in 2009 was always a bit puzzling. He's struggled with his control throughout his career (41:24 K:BB ratio last year), has low strikeout rates despite a 91-94 mph fastball, didn't have a high pedigree as an eighth-round pick and was old for his competition (24 last season at Double-A). He does induce groundballs (63 percent groundballs last season). He was traded to the White Sox for Scott Linebrink in the offseason. While the move to the White Sox may improve his shot at the majors, there's not much reason to think he'll be an impact player if he ever gets there.
