Abreu threw a scoreless inning in Monday's spring training loss to the Mets. He's given up one run in 9.1 innings this spring with nine strikeouts and five walks. He remains in the mix for the final spot in the bullpen along with Cristhian Martinez, Jairo Asencio and Scott Proctor, the team's official web site reports.

RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks

2013

There was no outlook written for Juan Abreu.

2012

The lesser known player in the Michael Bourn deal went 5-2 with a 2.18 ERA and 77 strikeouts in 48 appearances out of the Triple-A bullpen in 2011. Though he can bring the heat and miss his share of bats, he'll turn 27 in April and is older than you might think. After his trade to Houston, Abreu could finally play a more prominent role in the bullpen with the Astros' decision to trade Mark Melancon to the Red Sox in December, but he doesn't figure to offer much fantasy value unless he earns the opportunity to work the ninth inning.
