RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Josh Sale.
The Rays' first-round pick in 2010, Sale has shown glimpses of power and promise as well as disappointment. A failed drug test at the end of August will start his 2013 season with a 50-game suspension. Last season at Low-A Bowling Green, Sale showed good pop in a league that is generally pitcher-friendly, compiling an .855 OPS while hitting 10 homers in 239 at-bats. Sale is not a strong defensive player and will deliver most of his value with his bat. He showed solid discipline at the plate taking 51 walks in 297 plate appearances. It's unclear if the Rays will bump him up to High-A to start 2013 upon the completion of his suspension.
