Crotta got his first taste of Triple-A ball in 2010 and compiled a 4.93 ERA and 1.503 WHIP in 131.1 innings. He started the season with Double-A Altoona, stringing together an impressive line -- 1.78 ERA, 0.677 WHIP and a 16:3 K:BB ratio in 25.1 innings. The right-hander induces groundballs -- he held a 2.32 GO/AO ratio in 2010 -- but his upside is seen as limited. Crotta was added to the 40-man roster after the 2010 campaign a year after being exposed (and not selected) in the Rule 5 draft. He may have hit his ceiling at the Triple-A level, though anything is possible with Pittsburgh's revolving door on the mound.
