RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Aderlin Rodriguez.
Rodriguez showed impressive power in his age-20 season while spending time at Low-A Savannah and High-A St. Lucie in 2012, slashing .263/.321/.476 with 24 homers and 83 RBI. Although he does not strike out often (80 percent contact rate) for a young hitter with power, his plate discipline is still a work in progress. Perhaps of greater concern for the Mets is that his defense does not appear to be good enough to stick at third base, as he carried an .897 fielding percentage at the hot corner between those two levels. Look for a return to St. Lucie to begin the season, and don't be surprised if the Mets begin to consider other positions for him after signing David Wright to a long-term extension this winter.
