2012
Beck is an imposing figure on the mound (6-foot-4, 245 pounds) but didn't get out of the Florida State League (High-A) until he was 25 years old. He earned a promotion to Triple-A Las Vegas after a decent showing at Double-A New Hampshire (1.263 WHIP, 6.63 K/9IP) but got hammered in Vegas (2.088 WHIP, 6.70 ERA in eight starts) before a cup of coffee with the Jays in September. His future is likely as a reliever and he could compete for a spot in the Toronto bullpen this spring, but for now the results have to catch up to the scouting reports before we get too excited about his prospects.
