RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Joe Munoz.
The former second-round selection out of high school in the 2012 draft has been a slow mover in the Diamondbacks’ system, earning his first promotion to Low-A Kane County midway through the 2014 season. However, once he arrived at Kane County, he finished the season strong, especially for a 20-year-old getting his first taste of full-season ball. He slashed .246/.320/.402 with nine home runs in 341 plate appearances, and showed an improved eye at the plate over his numbers from rookie ball. Considering the progress he has shown since being drafted, there is reason to expect Munoz to take another step in 2015, and possibly finish the season in Double-A. If he can remain patient at the plate (9.1% walk rate at Low-A), and his power continues to develop, Munoz could be in the mix for the Diamondbacks’ third base job in 2017. However, given his lack of proximity and the amount of projection that remains, he may not be the best use of a minor league spot in dynasty leagues.
