RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks

2014

There was no outlook written for Jay Canizaro.

2003

Canizaro will get a spring training NRI with the Devil Rays in 2003. He hit .269 in 102 games at second base for the Twins in 2000, then tore his right ACL in spring training and missed all of 2001. By the time he came back early in 2002, Luis Rivas and Denny Hocking had already claimed the Twins' 2B job, and Canizaro was outrighted to the minors after hitting .214 in 38 games in the bigs. If Felix Escalona and/or Brent Abernathy fail to claim the Rays' second base job as their own in spring training, Canizaro may have a shot at the big-league roster.
