Perez is likely to retire after shoulder problems last season at age 35. If he returns, he'll win a backup job with his glove, not his bat.
2005
Perez will back up catcher Johnny Estrada. Unless there's an injury he won't get more than 200 AB and won't contribute much at the plate.

Perez will try to win the backup catcher job with the Braves.in spring training. If he makes the roster, it's hard to see him getting as many at bats as last season.
2003
One of the worst hitters in the majors, Perez's reputation as a stellar defensive catcher will keep him employed years beyond his usefulness.
