2006
Despite being a fan favorite and positive clubhouse influence, it was finally time for the Orioles to cut ties with the geriatric Surhoff and clear roster space for a younger player. If he catches on anywhere in 2006, it will be in a part-time role.
2005
After signing a minor league contract prior to spring training, Surhoff proved invaluable in 2004, filling in for the injured Jay Gibbons. The Orioles are considering bringing the 40-year-old back in a reserve role in 2005, but with the team looking into bringing in a star-caliber free agent outfielder, Surhoff shouldn�t play nearly as much as he did in 2004.
2004
Surhoff will be a part-time, left-handed batter off the bench for the Orioles who can fill in at a few positions.
2003
Surhoff missed most of 2002 after tearing an ACL in May. At age 38, his days as a regular are probably through. Check his health this spring.
