RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks

2013

There was no outlook written for Jose Vizcaino.

2007

Vizcaino keeps chugging along as a utility infielder. A lifetime .270 hitter, he hasn't topped 500 at-bats since 1997. After an 18-year career with eight teams, this could be the end of the road for him.

2006

The versatile Vizcaino has morphed into a utility infielder who usually plays a bit too much, especially now that he doesn't have the range for shortstop.

2005

Vizcaino will likely compete for a starting role at second base with the departure of Jeff Kent. However, he doesn't offer much power or speed and isn't the long-term solution at the position.

2004

Vizcaino's lone potential fantasy value is to provide an empty high batting average. Even that possibility is hardly a sure thing, as 2003 demonstrated.

2003

If the Astros remain unsettled as last season at third base and shortstop, Vizcaino could get another huge dose of playing time in 2003, although it's a good bet his batting average will drop significantly from 2002's .303. Given that Vizcaino brings nothing else to the table offensively, there's a better likelihood that he'll hurt your roto squad than help it the more he plays.
