RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Will Cunnane.
Cunnane was a surprise last season, saving three games and playing a vital role in the Atlanta bullpen after being recalled from Triple-A. He's really had a revival the past two seasons with impressive strikeout-to-walk ratios. We're not sure how he's turned things around, but he should have a setup role in the Atlanta bullpen again and his strong control could see him pick up a few cheap wins and help your ratios as well.
Cunnane spent most of 2002 at Triple-A Iowa where he pitched very well – 69/23 K/BB, 2.20 ERA in 73 2/3 IP. He got called up to the Cubs in August, and despite posting a 30/13 K/BB in 26 1/3 big-league innings, Cunnane gave up 27 hits and five home runs in that span, resulting in a 5.47 ERA. Cunnane has established a pattern over the last few seasons of pitching well in the minors and poorly in the majors, so even if he does win a bullpen spot out of camp, we don't see a ton of upside here.
