RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Ricardo Rincon.
Rincon pitched in just five games for the Redbirds before having surgery on his labrum and rotator cuff in May. A lefty specialist with a lifetime ERA of 3.58, Rincon should be ready by spring training. Considering that the only veteran lefty on the Cardinals 40-man roster is Randy Flores, Rincon will be given every chance this spring to make the team again.
Rincon is really starting to lose his effectiveness against righties (12 BB and four HR in 14 IP), which makes him just another lefty specialist. He's a free agent, and the A's may elect to go with in-house options Joe Kennedy or Ron Flores instead of anteing up for Rincon.
Rincon remains effective against left-handed hitting, which is important since he'll likely be the only lefty in the A's bullpen again. He's rapidly losing effectiveness against righties, however, to the point where fans get their gloves ready in left-center at the mere sight of a righty.
Rincon is starting to lose effectiveness against righties, but he'll have a prominent role in Oakland as long as he can get lefties out.
Acquired mid-season by Oakland, continued to show effectiveness against lefties. Will return in that role again.
