2004
Lefties beat him like a Republican in Marin County, which is why he's so inconsistent from start-to-start. It all depends on what he's facing. A free agent, Stephenson will struggle to find work.
2003
Shoulder and hamstring injuries cost Stephenson most of the 2002 season, and when he was healthy, the results were not pretty – K/BB of 34/25 in 45 IP, 48 hits allowed, 5.40 ERA. Couple that with his major shoulder surgery in April 2001 and the fact that he has never had great stuff, and we don’t see much upside here. That said, Stephenson will probably get a chance to compete for a spot in the Cards’ rotation this spring.
