Spencer found himself in the news more for fighting and drinking than for hitting in 2004. That's not a good sign. He's set to play 2005 in Japan.
2004
Spencer has value as a lefty-mashing reserve outfielder in real life. Anything more than that and he'll be overexposed against right-handed pitching and suffer as a result. In the right situation, he makes a decent $1 roster filler in deep leagues. He's free to sign anywhere he wants after refusing an assignment to Triple-A by the Rangers.
2003
Spencer projects as a fourth or fifth outfielder with a little bit of pop, below-average on-base skills and no speed. If he gets another 280 at-bats as he has the last few seasons, he'll be a fringe roto player in AL leagues, but even that is not guaranteed at this point.
