Davey, now pitching for the Hiroshima Carp in Japan, will undergo surgery on his pitching shoulder in the US on Thursday and is expected to miss the rest of the season, the Japan Times reports.

ANALYSIS
Davey, an ex-Padres and Red Sox farmhand, was diagnosed with a damaged joint in his right shoulder after pitching in a game against the Yomiuri Giants on May 27. He returned to the States last weekend.
